When faced with congested water pipes, soap scum and water with a metallic taste, these are hard water problems that needs hard water filter. Of course, there are many and different types of water softeners you can get in the market to soften this type of groundwater. The installation of plumbing must be done by a qualified plumber on one side to ensure quality work and on the other side to maintain insurance coverage.
The water softeneris a water treatment device that is connected to the water supply pipe to capture excess minerals. The water softener can be connected to cold water or hot water depending on the needs of the occupants and especially the use of water. To recognize hard rain, just apply little amount dish soap in the water then shake the mixture. When the water is hard, its mineral content is high and prevents the formation of soapy foam, that is to say, that the bubbles are quickly dissolved. To solve the problem of hard water, the plumber can choose between different types of softeners according to their processes: filtration, descaling, chemical and magnetic.
The filter softener is the most popular and the one that immediately comes to mind when it comes to the water softener. This particular softener uses of salt based filters to remove calcium and magnesium by promoting ion exchange. The filter has a bed of sodium resin to attract mineral particles. This process is extremely effective at removing hard elements. But its disadvantage is the presence of a trace of sodium in the water.
Softener By Descaling
The descaling softener uses the same process as the previous one, but this time is replacing the sodium with a catalyst to crystallize the hard particles. The descaling treatment thus makes it possible to keep the minerals crystallized in the water without clogging the water pipes. It is the best solution for softening hard water while preserving mineral-rich water.
The chemical water softener or springwell is less known as its use is reserved for wash water. It is not advisable to soften hard water for consumption because the process makes water unpalatable. The chemical softener is very important in decreasing scale buildup and soap foam formation. It is, therefore, the type of water softener that performs well in the face of hard water, but the use of water softened by this process should be limited to washing. For this reason, the chemical softener installation is particularly recommended for household appliances that often have scale and residue problems, such as the dishwasher and washer.
The magnetic softener is a rather expensive system since the filter must be installed on each tap to be effective. The reason is that the magnetic filter moderately softens hard water and does not permanently change the condition of minerals. It becomes ineffective to filter further into the water pipes of a house unless it is installed near a faucet or showerhead.
